The Children of Ibdaa: To Create Something Out of Nothing (30 min. 2002) is about a Palestinian children's dance troupe from a West Bank refugee camp who use their performance to express the history, struggle, and aspirations of the Palestinian people. It has screened worldwide through film festivals, television, and educational and activist forums. It has won numerous awards. Smith chronicled the Ibdaa dance troupe during the troupes' two United States performance tours.
